Make podcasts for students who have a problem remembering your instructions. You don't need an ipod to podcast or download podcasts. (Put it on your Christmas wish list)
Control click on a file and select make archive to automatically have the file zipped (compressed for emailing etc)
In Appleworks to centre the text in text frames select the text and then press the Apple key and \ (thanks Peter)

After a recent teachers' visit to my class session I have an activity sheet(pdf file)where students can record a few Maths activities. To take Screen shots hold down shift apple 4. Then drag the cross to select the area where you want to take the screen shot. (means you don't have to have the whole screen which is better if you want to print.)
